MATERIAL PUBLICS
Experimental Music Artist Submissions

Common Grounds Press is currently accepting submissions from experimental, avant garde, and interdisciplinary sound artists for consideration in Material Publics, an upcoming publication releasing July 2026.

Material Publics is a long-form visual and editorial publication exploring cities, public space, material culture, ecology, infrastructure, civic memory, and cooperative urban futures through photography, essays, commentary, and interdisciplinary artistic research.

We are seeking artists whose work engages themes such as:
• Urban environments and spatial experience
• Field recording and environmental sound
• Noise, drone, ambient, electroacoustic, and experimental composition
• Materiality and sonic texture
• Public infrastructure and civic space
• Ecological systems and climate consciousness
• Memory, archives, and cultural residue
• Technology and human experience
• Sound as social or political inquiry

Selected artists will be featured in a written editorial/interview section within the publication. Between 2–3 artists will be contacted by June 10th, 2026 for interviews and editorial development.

Artists from all backgrounds and geographic locations are encouraged to apply.
